There is a very large gap between the way in which the various services which make up the welfare state are supposed to work and how they actually work in practice. This can lead to a sense of despair for those working in the sector and those who are supposed to receive support. The danger is that we don’t challenge this gap and tell ourselves that we have to live in the “real world” where there just aren’t the resources for the system to run properly.
In tonight’s Live Stream I will be stepping back and looking at how things should be working compared to what is happening in the “real world” where they don’t.
I will go into this in more detail in the future but to be going on which here are some links to relevant materials.
